The aim of an error detection technique is to enable the receiver of a message transmitted through a noisy (error-introducing) channel to determine whether the message has been corrupted. To do this, the transmitter constructs a value (called a checksum) that is a function of the message, and appends it to the message. The receiver can then use the same function to calculate the checksum of the received message and compare it with the appended checksum to see if the message was correctly received.
In digital electronic systems, information is represented in binary format (1's and 0's). When binary information is passed from one point to another, there is always some chance that a mistake can be made; a 1 interpreted as a 0 or a 0 taken to be a 1. This can be caused by media defects, electronic noise, component failures, poor connections, deterioration due to age, and other factors. When a bit is mistakenly interpreted, a bit error has occurred.
Please refer a procedure below,
Step 1: Old NAS unit must be powered off.
Step 2: Move out the HDD caddy.
Step 3: New NAS unit set factory default once
Step 4: Insert HDD caddy with new NAS unit.
Step 5: Power on new NAS unit.
The solution is pretty easy using the registry.
On Desktop screen, click "Start"-----> "Run"------> input "regedit" will show registed list. Find the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\LMCompatibilityLevel
controls the security level mandated or allowed for logins. In Vista it defaults to 0x3, which means "NTLMv2 only". This is not supported by Samba server. The fix is to change it to 0x1, which means "use NTLMv2 if available, or older versions if not.", and then reboot. Samba shares will work just fine.
The LCD panel constantly displays the IP address, Fan speed, System temperature, System hostname, System memory size, CPU model and version of current hardware. It also shows warning messages in real-time while detecting the hard drives which are been damaged.
Currently no limit is set.
Yes, Orion NAS series unit can support.

Since “Orion NAS” is based on LINUX operating system, it will not cause extensive damage of system by virus. Data on Orion NAS could be affected by virus and on any possibility from the client. The best way to solve the problem is to execute and update the anti-virus program regularly when client scans for viruses to the Orion NAS.
Orion NAS series supports over 2GB per file. But Microsoft windows 98, MAC OS 8.X and MAC OS 9.X system file system had limited by itself.
Yes, Orion NAS series file system is supported by Linux kernel (xfs file system), so file system support capacity is over 2TB.
When select the domain or ADS level on Orion, the NAS will be a domain member (Not PDC or BDC). It can catch all of domain user's name in Domain and add into NAS self, then all of users in Domain could use same account to access NAS. The difference between ADS and Domain level is your Domain type that will be joined. If the Domain type that will be joined is ADS, you will get all of domain user's name in ADS tree when you select ADS level. If you select Domain level, you get the user's account in 'Only' Domain that you join. For client, join ADS level or Domain level are same, if the user is in same domain. However, if the user in other domain in ADS, he/his could not access NAS data when use Domain level.
