Taipei, Taiwan, Sep. 12, 2007 –Maxtronic Int’l Co., Ltd., a global supplier in enterprise-class RAID and storage solutions, today unveil its SS-6603S/SS-4503S 3U 16 Bay/2U 12 Bay Rackmount iSCSI to SAS RAID System, by offering high-performance, reliable, and cost effective SAS RAID solutions. With the outstanding Snapshot, easy-to-use GUI and the comprehensive RAID features, Arena iSCSI to SAS RAID Systems are aiming to SMB for SAN over IP solution which is using iSCSI protocol through internet as general applications in various environments.

iSCSI to SAS RAID System Feature Highlights:

  • Support Snapshot / Rollback.
  • Support Trunking/Link Aggregation Control Protocol ( LACP )
  • Support SAS ( Serial Attached SCSI ) HDD.
  • Support RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 0+1, 10, 30, 50, 60, JBOD.
  • Support N-way mirror function.
  • On-line volume expansion and RAID level migration.
  • Support Disk roaming.
  • Support SES ( SCSI Enclosure Services ).
  • MPIO ready (initiator driver support needed).
  • MC/S ready (initiator driver support needed).
  • Support CHAP authentication.

Intelligent Snapshot/Rollback technology
The Snapshot function of Arena iSCSI RAID systems provide consistent and instant copies of data volumes without any system downtime. The feature of Snapshot can keep up to 32 snapshots for all data volumes. For Rollback feature, it is provided for restoring the previously-snapshot data easily while continuously using the volume for further data access. The data access is regular as usual including read/write without any impact to end users. The "on-the-box" terminology implies that it does not require any proprietary agents installed at host side. It will not consume any host CPU time thus the server is dedicated to the specific or other applications.

Server Boot from iSCSI RAID systems
Two constant driving forces within IT departments are the need to reduce IT costs, and increase the availability of data. This trend toward larger numbers of servers has driven more IT departments to put more of their servers to boot from SANs as this boot configuration can both reduce the cost of ownership and increase the availability of these servers. For Fibre Channel SANs have supported booting for several years. In iSCSI SANs, HBAs are the best means to implement booting from the iSCSI SAN. iSCSI SAN boot advantages will make the investment in iSCSI HBAs cost effective if compare with Fibre Channel HBA cost

High throughput performance with 4 Gbps LAN port
With the Trunking/LACP( Link Aggregation Control Protocol ) features, Arena iSCSI RAID Systems are not only deliver superior peak performance through Trunking feature but also provides load Balance performance when LACP is enabled. The High throughput performance of Arena iSCSI RAID Systems can ensure both functions working together in various setup environment.
